Variants (differences)

Hi,

I was trying to understand what the different variants were on this site (for Castles of Burgundy).

I'm not sure what the 'double sided random boards' variant means. Looks like random boards but some players have the same board, others have different board.?.

I think I'm clear on the below variants:
classic version = everyone has board 1
single random board = everyone has the same board (board is randomly chosen)
2 random boards for each player = everyone has a different board (boards are chosen randomly)

Thanks.

Hi
I'd like to help but difficult for me to make it clearer then it appears on the game creation explanation.
Have you tried to create yourself a game ?
If not i'd suggest you try so that you can see which are the options given.
May be somebody may explain it better.

Thanks. However I do not see any description when I choose the variants (using the game creation approach).

When I do a google search I find this description, "Be given a random double-sided board and choose which side to play". In that case, are all players given the same double sided board choice? (so no matter how many players, there will be at most just those two boards in play)

I think my question comes down to this:

What is the difference between these two variants:
'doubled sided random boards' vs '2 random boards for each player'

'doubled sided random boards' = you have a randomly choosen 2-sided board from the original box
'2 random boards for each player' = you have the choice beetween two randomly choosen boards (no matter if they are on the double sided original boards

Thanks, I believe I understand.

These two variants seem very similar. I suppose that the variant '2 random boards for each player' gives a bit more variety than 'doubled sided random boards' - so I'm just wondering why not just have that (2 random boards) and not have the 'doubled sided random boards' variant? Is the 'doubled sided' variant supposed to have better play balance?
